Givi Trekker

*** 8:15 am On FedEx vehicle for delivery ***

Oh yea! Today is the day my Givi Trekker luggage arrives!
I fell in love with the looks of the white strom with the trekker on the "pair of stroms" blog and ordered the full suite for myself.

Got the 52l top case with a 46l and 33l side cases. Pics to come!

I also have a pair of the oem suzuki aluminum cases that I will likely put on the 'for sale' board (if I ever get to 20 posts lol). They came off the '12 adventure I parted ways with on the Moonshiner 28 in the NC/TN mountains. That bike is gone but the cases were not attached to it when we parted ways.

They look great on the white bike. Funny, I wasn't initially fond of that color but it really makes a difference with the Trekkers on.

Just curious - what are your impressions of the durability and convenience of the Trekkers vs the OEM aluminum cases?

I bought Trekkers a month ago for my GS500. I don't know how I lived without them.
Last week I bought my 2013 Wee and ordered Givi mounts for them. They came in in just a couple days. Now I can swap them between bikes.

I love how they can open just the top or the whole side.
I leave the left just the top (for gloves and small stuff plus it has tools & stuff I might need). The right I open fully for groceries.
I'm always around my bikes so I don't bother locking them shut unless they are parked in a shopping mall or something like that.

Even if unlocked, you can't steal them without the key to remove them. You can put them on without a key.

Only annoyance is water in the recessed lock area. It collects a little there and sometimes some drops get inside.

Purchased the 3 lock set so I have all of them keyed the same. reflective tape was added.

Aside from the massive width, I really liked the looks of the OEM aluminum, but I really do not like the locks on them and did not want to spend the $$$ on the matching top case either. I ride most the time with only the top case, so the Trekker setup is incredibly flexible to my riding style. One of the draws for me (aside from the awesome looks) is that I can use any of the 3 as a topbox (the 33, 46, or 52). I will only use the side cases on trips (or large grocery trips) and they are very easy on and off when unlocked. I also like how the 46 and 33 can open 2 ways - very convenient when taken off to put in a tent or hotel room. The side cases mount much closer to the bike (not as wide) as the OEMs. Another draw for me was getting the quick release pannier mounts and being able to remove with the key/tool provided. So to me the convenience is in favor of the Trekkers, although I didn't have a top case when I ran with the OEM's so I may be jaded there.

Regarding durability, well they are not metal but they are as sturdy and durable seeming as anything I think I could want. Before I got them I was concerned the aluminum cover on the trekkers would be like tin foil or something crappy, but it is well made and very cool. I have no concerns about durability.

Thank you sir! I must also thank you for the tip I read in your blog about the 52L rattle. That must be a common thing on the 52. I do not have the rattle on the smaller ones when mounted up top. I am looking now for a place to order the new rubber bumpers.

Nice. I'm a fan of the big Givi top boxes. Just replaced my E52 with an E55. Considering the TRK52 if I can figure out how and where to put some admore lights.
