I got hit by a car and my side case broke. Thoughts on how to fix it?

So a car hit me right on the right side case (one of the plastic Hepco Becker ones) of my bike, popping it off of the rack and when it hit the ground (I assume) the lid split off from the rest of the case right along the hinge. The hinge is just a thin piece of plastic, so I don't know how best to fix it. If I epoxy it, I don't think it will hinge properly. I could just slap some duct tape on there, but that's not really a permanent solution. I could buy a metal hinge and screw it into the plastic... I just don't know what the best option is.
I got the bike just over a year ago, so maybe the case is still under warranty from Hepco Becker. Also I have comprehensive insurance, so that might cover it as well? I didn't get the kid's insurance info. Looking back I wish I had, but it's too late now.
Anyone have an idea of how to fix it? I'd really appreciate it!

No reason for Hepco becker to cover the warranty on the case. I don't see a defect in material or workmanship. Your comprehensive probable has a deductable that is who knows how high. Get the replacement cost for the box and send a bill to the person who caused the damage. They will then forward it to their insurance complany. Can't really tell from the pictures if you can repair the box or not. Another option is to find a used box.

miles smiles=bike.
It's simple math.

Put a piano hinge on it. Nobody can see the bottom anyway

I wouldn't do a thing about it except order a new one and send the bill to the other person's insurance company.

Travel back in time and get the insurance information from the guy that destroyed the side case. I can not imagine having the guy that did the damage leave without giving his info.

Sure wish I had a time machine. I wasn't really sure whose fault it would be and since there wasn't any big damage to the bike I figured I'd rather not get the cops involved. I like the piano hinge idea, and I'll check out the plast aid stuff. thanks guys!

First thing I do is get the police involved in a car accident. Makes it harder for the other party to make false claims later. Besides, it is the law here.
