JC Whitney with Givi PL3101?

I'm looking to put hard bags on and I noticed threads from awhile back that said the JC Whitney large cases are Givi E360 clones and will fit monokey racks. Has anyone tried this recently? Does it still work with the current cases JC Whitney sells? Is it really worth it to pay and minimum of $310 more for the Kappa cases? I have cheap knock off as a top case and it's performed fine, so even though I could swing the more expensive options it seems crazy to me.

I have a cheapo Bestem top case and PL3103 Givi racks. The spacing and size of the keyways and latch on the Bestem match the Givi exactly.

What's different Givi vs. Bestem is that one system's latch has a thru hole and the other doesn't. I've seen someone modify the latch to work.

I have no experience with the JC Whitney box(es), but Googling images, it looks to me like the JCW and Bestem might be out of the same mold. Wow - $40??! I might have to buy a pair of the JCW's and let you know!

JCWhitney Top Box

I have one and it snapped right into my PLR3101 side racks. Just like it was made to go there. Looked good too. If I hadn't already ordered the e22n bags I would have thought long and hard about ordering two more JCWhitney cases for a complete set. Can't go wrong for the price. ($40 shipped!)

Garage pro Thumbs Up

I Just received 2 new Garage Pro topcases 43.95 ea with free shipping, plus I used another 10% coupon available ... anywhere .
I will note that these are a clone of Givi e360 cases but at least 100$ cheaper ,
They seem to be good solid shells , though not Givi OEM quality. More-so The latch system and mounts are clearly not as good as Givi parts my latch cracked on first use, but still usable, If worse comes to worse, you could Buy Givi hardware, and Bob's yer Uncle !

This batch seems to have standard Givi Fitment pattern. These cases worked fine on my 06 Wee Strom with standard GIVI mounts.

I plan to use my Silver Givi e360's as semi permanant topcases on both DL650 and AN650 ,and press thes Garage Pro's into service only when Maximim capacity is needed . It is definitely more difficult to get on the Vstrom with sidecases attached, Will not be an issue with the step thru Burgman

Updates , The orange/red stripe opposite the reflector is now cast in Black, Just like Givi does , That is good . I have just got my Burg650 , and will try to use the combination of bags as needed between the 2 bikes. Maybe 3 bikes...
I had bought a Garage Pro case last year ( Red Stripe) when I got the Strom. This was the older version , the fitments did not work well , The new one BLACKSTRIPE , fit's and latches perfectly on all the Giivi mounts I have .

$43.95

Annnnnnnd.... done.

Mounts perfectly. I took the tumblers apart and keyed them to my Bestem topcase key. All's well.
