VIN = Color? VIN = Adventure?

So I know all 2012 Adventures came in Black and 2013/2014 Adventures came in Grey.

Does the VIN or anything on the chassis (Serial number) specifically track the bike to being a certain color or An adventure model or not?

Reason being, I'd like to swap to Fox Orange Metallic. Pricing out brand new Suzuki plastics, it'd be about $650.

However, down the road if I ever wanted to sell, it might make me look sketchy if there's a sticker on the bike that indicates that it should be black and it's actually orange...

2012 DL650 Adventure - Black
OEM Hand guards, OEM Heated grips, Stroma Center Stand and Shifter, SV Racing Frame and Swingarm sliders, Eastern Beaver power distribution, Skene Visibility Lights

Not sure if the VIN specs it out as a specific model, but it wont matter if you change the color or not. It shouldn't effect resale at all. I ahve a black adventure and I too really like that orange color... or the 2014 red...

One thing to keep in mind though... if your title/registration says black and you change it to orange then the title/registration also needs changed. That is what will get you messed up if a cop pulls you over and the paperwork says black bike... might make him think your plates are stolen, or bike is stolen unless he looks at the actual VIN plates.

2012 DL650A Adventure, Yoshimura R-77 3/4 exhaust, Sargent World Sport Performance Plus seat, ProTaper SE Raptor bars, SW-Motech 25mm risers, ProGrip Grips, Suzuki handguards, Tuono mirrors, Givi skid plate, Adventure Tech fork brace, GPS mount, peg lowering kit, auxiliary power shelf, SW-Motech convertible foot pegs, SW-Motech extended shift lever, SVRacing frame sliders, Garmin Zumo 660, MRA Xcreen, Michelin Pilot Road 3 Trails, Eastern Beaver headlight relay, Coocase V37

Currently in the United Kingdom and looking for great rides. PM if you have suggestions.

Yeah, registration is easy to change.

Yes it is. Some people don't do this though and it can cause headaches.
