I wouldn't count on another 10k out of that chain. Mine went 11,000 and died in a hurry. Found about half of the O-rings under the counter shaft cover. Other than that you are correct about the bike. Very reliable, low maintenance, fun to ride and cheap to own. Hard to find a better ride than the wee.

I replaced the OEM chain on my 2012 DL650 at 41,048 miles (66,060 KM). My mechanic thought it was perfectly okay and had a lot of life left in it but had two riding aquainences with chain issues and was about to go on a long ride so thought it good to change before I left. Previous to that the last chain I replaced (DID X-Ring) was at 46,404 miles or 74,845 km.

Hint: NEVER clean the chain but lube with every tank of gas and after every ride in the rain. I use Wurth HHS2000 and ride in all kinds of conditions from unpaved roads, highways, in heavy rain, backroads, salt covered roads whatever. My front sprockets wear out before the chains do, usually around 35,000 to 40,000 miles.

11,000 miles out of a chain seems like some awfully low mileage. I would hazard a guess that your chain was the exception, unless you spent most of your time riding in sand, grit, and volcanic soil....

That's pretty impressive as far as the tread on your tire. I have 8550 on my 2012 650, and I'm already on my second rear Trailwing. My original rear tire was all the way down to the wear bars when I swapped it out. I just put a Pilot Road 3 on the front to replace the original Trailwing. I do a lot of two up riding, so I guess that took its toll on the original stock tires....

I lube the chain every 600 miles and after evwry ride in the rain. If I lubed every fill up it would be every other day! Haha. I ride about 110 miles highway a day for commuting so I think thay helps out with my low wear rate. I also usually only run with a tank bag and weigh about 160. Most of my commite is a steady 75mph. Very little stop go and turning. But I'm ok with that. I got 20k out of my sv650 chain.
