12 volt switchable source for CB radio.

I have a 2012 Vstrom 650.

I recently purchased a J&M CB, model #JMCB-2003K-DU/SL.

The directions say that the orange wire should be connected to a 12 volt switchable source.

Which source should I tap into? And where is it located?
I plan to use posi-tap connectors.

This usually means it's time to add a fuse block. Yay, another accessory! Search the forum for "fuse block".
Put the fuse block on a relay, triggered off the rear tail light. Then, plug the J&M into the fuse block.

I also have a J&M and am going to be doing the same install on my 2011 DL650 in the coming weeks, so I'll be interested in seeing if you hit any road blocks. Good luck!

Your best bet is an orange wire with a green stripe. A common source is a wire to the rear brake switch. There is also one in the connector set inside the rubber cover in the left fairing.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

J&M radio

Any pics of how you mounted the radio? My wife just got a Strom and I need to change over her radio, haven't really looked at mounting yet but I know the setup from her FZ6 won't work.
