2013 DL650 Engine Sounds

Bike is in neutral, sounds normal to me,, Correct? Bike is a 2013 DL650A

This next one is bike in gear & under load. Aside from the obvious wind noise, does the other noise sound normal? Reason I'm asking is I'm new to this type of engine.

really to hard to tell with the wind noise on the second vid. the engine sounds good in the first one though. A lot of people are paranoid about every little sound they hear when they don't know a bike. If there is lots of oil in it just ride it and maybe put some ear plugs in. It helps eliminate the small mechanical noises

Sounds like an engine ready to rev, use it and love it.

Don't worry about it...

Perfect pitch

JohnnyR, engine sounds exactly like my 2012. However, I always ride with earplugs which it seems I forget to put back in after about half my stops, and in these cases I always have a half second of panic wondering what the heck is wrong with this engine, it is so noisy compared to what I am used to. Put the ear plugs back in, and I am back to the sweet sound of pure smoothness. Silence may be bliss, so call me Mr. Bliss.

Glad to read that you folks think this engine sound is normal. I am a bit paranoid about my new (400 kilometres last week, 800 now) 2012 Strom 650. Having ridden a Kawasaki W until last week, which I thought to be a "mechanical sounding" bike... (but very sweet and smooth - the W sounds like a sewing machine)... I got on my new Strom and thought "Oh shit, the engine knocks like hell", but video 1 (audio only for me?) sounds like mine.

Glad to you guys think that's OK.
As one poster said, some people are paranoid about engine noise, and I am sadly one of those people for sure.

Loving the Strom though, it's wonderful after a 1/2 hour warm-up ride.
