Hooking up Besten 929 top case LEDs to brake light

I bought a Besten 929 top case and managed to install it on my 2012 650.
I see the LED wires that came with the box. Can somebody please tell this noob how to hook it up to the brake lights? what do I need ?
I read the other threads on this top case and folks installing other LEDs but didn't quite get it. Im hoping someone can give me a simpler way to go about getting the stock lights on the case to work.

Thank you.

I just tied mine into the harness behind the seat. I can't remember off hand what the colors of the wires were, but if you have a test light, it isn't hard to figure out.

brake light to top case led connection

So, if I find the right pair of wires, do I cut them and somehow attach the top case wires (one to each)? or is there something that accepts these connections already?

Thank you

You have to cut the wires that connect to your brake light and splice in the bestem connector.

If you want to avoid cutting wires on your bike Eastern Beaver sells a harness that plugs into the white connector under the seat. Then it's just a matter of attaching the top box wires to those provided from the EB harness. That's what I did as a noob like yourself. It made trial and error a little less precarious.

I used the info provided by MrNobody and DougInKY from this thread and posted about my install there myself.
https://www.stromtrooper.com/maintena...k-through.html

1st, get the Eastern Beaver taillight adapter if you don't want to tap into the bike's lines directly. I used version 2 so I can add a modulator more easily in the future.
Also buy some posi-locks from him too, they'll make splicing wires together and connecting the box wires to the adapter wires very easy.

Eastern Beaver VStrom taillight adapter.

You may also want to use your own wires to extend from the box to the adapter. I used a trailer wire kit for quick disconnect (available at any auto parts store).

Starting at the top box, splice the blue and black wires together. These combined wires go to the black on the adapter (or bike's equivalent if tapping directly).

Splice the red and brown wires in the box and connect these combined wires to the adapter's red wire (or bike's equivalent if tapping directly).

Connect the box's green wire to the adapter's white wire (or bike's equivalent if tapping directly).

That's pretty much it. I run the wires out under the seat up to the box as you can see in the other thread.

I highly recommend the EB taillight adaptor. Just keep your order above 20 bucks. You can always use some extra posi-locks and posi-taps. The adaptor makes the job easy peasy. I used this connector to wire the top box lights into the adaptor harness...Waterproof Polarized 4-Wire Cable Set ID: 744 - $2.50 : Adafruit Industries, Unique & fun DIY electronics and kits. Works like a charm!

I ordered an EB taillight adaptor. and some posi-lock connectors too.
Getting that fixed would get my top case project completed.

Thank you.
