Cooling Water

Hi all, sorry if this has been asked before but I'm at work and my computer is painfully slow, seaching this site on it seems to take ages or just locks up

Is there an easier way to top up the cooling water rather than removing the tank as per the riders handbook on a 2013 650 VStrom?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you NEED to remove the tank, though you'd have to at least lift it up on the back stand (the hold down plate thingy at the back of the tank) to get access to the overflow bottle. A syringe and flexible tube should do the job.

It's easier to lift up the tank, but unnecessary. You can use clear tube and a funnel. I like the syringe idea too, or a turkey baster.

You shouldn't need to top up the coolant more than perhaps once after a coolant change to adjust the level. If you do need to top up more often you need to find the source of the leak and fix it.

Haven't checked mine a a really long time...year or two. IS it a matter of frequent concern?

Cheers for the replies guys, was just thinking it was a odd place to top up coolant but as rightly pointed out shouldn't need doing very often, just need that warm fluffy feeling if I'm away from home and it does need topping up
