2012 DL650A. I see the 'or' here in this reply. Do you think I could run both a GPS AND a phone charger off the aux connector? Thinking about adding an aux shelf with a plug for both along with a switch for heated grips.

Thanks

Jut add up the amps. Most phone chargers top out at 2.1 amps (or at least have in the past, they keep changing phones, and connection, etc.).

Check the amperage rating for your specific GPS. You can check the power output of the charger, but most use (or used in the past) a 2 amp fuse. So they should get buy on a 5 amp fuse or higher.

I thought the aux circuit was around 3amps max, like on my DL1000 which states on the socket 36w max.

GPS and phone charger are both low power devices. Even if a charger says "2.1A" this is 2.1A at 5V. The power drawn at 12V will be less than 1A even if the phone would actually pull 2.1A which it will not in all likelihood. iPads and other tablets can pull as much as 2.1A but again this would only be 2.1A*5V=10.5W plus a couple of Watt (use 20% to be safe) for the charger itself, which does the voltage conversion pretty efficiently, usually at 80% or higher efficiency, which is why I use 20% as extra loss. The GPS will probably be in ballpark of 5W unless it has a huge screen then it might be slightly more. So you can run these safely next to a heated grip connector or off an accessory plug rated at 36W.

My apologizes if my post is in the wrong forum. More GPS wiring questions. I located the blanked off plug on my 2016 650. Located by the front right signal light wiring harness. The left side is orange and the right side black / white. I ordered the horn connector lead #36852-06G00 as many have suggested for a plug and play connection. Received the part today and they definitely do not fit each other. Am I missing something. Stumped. Thanks.

I do not have your model V-Strom but I understand that you have both a accessory connector and a heated grips connector. Could you have located the wrong one? The heated grips plug is well hidden under the airbox and behind the radiator.
Does the image below look familiar?

Also look here: https://www.stromtrooper.com/dl650a-...male-plug.html
and here: https://www.stromtrooper.com/dl650-d...-location.html

This is the earlier Wee but mostly the same as yours. At different times the plugs have been either black and white.
