You can't see it here, but the plate has two fingers sticking out what is now the lower end, which engage with two holes in the base plate beneath it, so this setup is nice and stable.

I've seen that piece on my DL1000, but what is the point of lifting the tank a couple inches? Only time I remove that bolt is when I want the tank off and out of the way.

Lifts up so you can more easily get to the fuel disconnect.

Yes it lets you relatively easily disconnect the fuel line, the vent hoses and the wiring connection.

It also allows you to check the coolant reservoir and add coolant if needed.

My Opinion:
Vee or V= DL1000 before 2014
Vee2 or V2 = DL1000 2015 to 2019
Vee3 or V3 = DL1050 2020 to?

My Stroms:
2006 DL650: 202,000 km 125,500 miles, Sold
2012 DL650 139,500+ km, 86,700+ miles. Sold
2015 DL1000 New July 2015 205,000+ km, 127,000+ miles.

This can help preventing from cars pulling out in front of you (SMIDSY)

Ah. The disconnects I can do with one hand. The coolant reservoir is on the inside of the fairing on the DL1000, but if it is under the tank on the wee then that makes sense.

I think it was moved under the tank on the 2007 DL650, the year that ABS became available. (But I could very well be wrong.)

Not on the newer 1000. It's under the rear of the tank.

Well I'm an idiot...I reads the owners manual on my 2009 Wee and learned about the tank jack...
I'll add, the owners manual does an excellent job of explaining how to remove the front spark plug also...
