Handle bar alignment

Having that handle bar looks crooked issue. Only when riding though. When I park her on the center stand, everything lines up, and this DOES NOT make sense. I've run through the following procedures though it may be excessive.

Front End Alignment

1. Remove all plastic parts.
2. Loosen steering stem head nut.
3. Loosen lower triple tree bolts.
4. Loosen brake caliper bolts.
5. Remove fender.
6. Loosen pinch bolt.
7. Loosen front wheel axle.
8. Use floor jack under bash plate to remove weight from wheel and prevent forks from sliding at upper clamp.
9. Loosen upper triple tree bolts.
10. Spin fork tubes 180 degrees.
11. Shake loose front end manually pressing down on top of the tripple tree 5-6 times.
12. Re-tighten the upper triple tree bolts.
13. Remove floor jack.
14. Re tighten hardware working from the top triple down to wheel.

Definitely kinked to the right. Assuming that you have not dropped it and bent the bars?? check that the handlebar clamps are true - image 2 seems to show the bars not square on the upper triple clamp.

Then if still unhappy, loosen the bottom triple clamp pinch bolts only, and standing in front of the bike with your knees locked on the wheel, pull the throttle side handgrip back while pushing the clutch side grip forward.
Tighten and test ride. Repeat as necessary.

The Rox risers arenít even. Tap one with a rubber mallet to even the angle.

Thanks for the replies on this. I will snap a couple of shots with the bike on the center stand before I make any changes and post them. You will be surprised at how lined up everything is until I take it on the road. And that includes the Rox risers.

I will also try adjusting the Rox risers as recommended.

Here are a couple of pictures before I even lay a wrench to it. The bars look fairly straight.

However on my way to the garage I not only observed the handlebars crooked but the top triple clamp was crooked right along with it. This is bigger than bars.

When you push and pull the bars, do they move relative to the upper triple clamp?

It seems like your new risers have caused you to twist the forks to align them with the bars. You need to straighten the forks first, and then work out why the risers are not aligned.

Rox Risers are 10 years old. Haven't been adjusted since install.

The bike has never been dropped with these ProTaper bars (like the risers also 10yo).

This time I removed the front wheel and everything attached to forks. When I loosened the lower triple clamps, it popped. Clearly it was binding.

Thanks for your all's good eyesight as you guys mentioned the handle bars were slightly off in the risers which I corrected with a mallet (1/16"). Not sure how or when that happened. I haven't hit anything in years and that includes the ground.

After a final shakedown I tightened everything back up from the top down. I rode home at night so I didn't get the best view of the bar alignment, but the bike was no longer leaning to the left as far as I could tell. It was a nice ride. I'll have a better look at it today.

I also have Rox risers. As you've seemingly just experienced, they can get cocked off a bit, which is both a feature and a bug.

It's a feature, in that they allow some flexibility in the bars-to-steering head connection. When I ate dirt road last fall, my handlebars were knocked askew but nothing permanently bent, which is kind of a miracle. But I had to realign my Rox's.

It's a bug, in that the Rox risers rely solely on clamping force to resist rotation, so are slightly prone to becoming misaligned now and then.

Overall though, I'm a fan. They're ridiculously well-made, beautiful, solid chunks of aluminum, and there's nothing else quite like them.

Had a chance to ride today and the effort was a great success. Wow, it's great to have things in order. The ride is so much better without the lean. Well, at least without the lean exaggerated by crowning.
