Venture into the "other darkside"
Yes, yes I know the "darkside" is for those who use car tires on their v strom. May as well include trailer tires. They are cheaper and just as safe (IMHO)..The darkside I'm talking about is scooters. Yes, those little underpowered, automatic transmission, tiny tires, ultra high mileage 2 wheeled things. I love my wee and ride every chance I can but honestly, when i suit up and seat up I want to go. Far and fast. But I also like to go slow and enjoy the side roads. My cycle venture started on a scooter so I decided to take a walk back in time to my roots. And I love it!!! My ride is a Yamaha Zuma 125 packing a whole 7 HP with a top speed of 55 MPH, under the right conditions. Uphill or into a wind its 45-50mph. What a differenet experience. While I'll never get rid of my wee I will be spending more time on the Zuma. Its a lot less stressful. Its easy to start, stop and stand up. No chain go clean and no oil filter to change. Easy to modify. For a couple of bucks I can mod it up to 65 mph. But I'm not that serious. Riding down the country lanes I'm not troubled by the myriad of riders who wave or the bone heads who are insistent on proving that they are faster. They are all faster than my scoot. If you want to try something different, go for it. Ride often, ride safe.
