I bought a new sportster in 95 in the box. They took the top off to see and I took it for list.Hard to get any kind of Harley in the 90 for list with out a lot of extra fee's. Took it to Montana and back and put over 11,000 on it as a third bike.I ride one under warranty more than my others. Sold it a week before it was a year old for $640 more than the $5,810 I rolled it out for!Sure can't do that now.

I came close on my 2014 1000. I bought it in 2015 as a last years model. Bought it in Feb with 3 feet of snow on the ground haha. I got it for 10,500. The following year when the 2016's came out they listed at 12,500. I traded it for a Concours 1400 that I road for 2 months and sold for $8500 plus I got $2,000 cash difference on the trade. I did however put about $1800 worth of accessories on it and I left them on the bike when I did the trade. Still not bad for getting rid of a new bike after a year!

I just bought a 2018 and paid $250 below list, If I try to sell it after a year i'd take a huge bath on it im sure!

Congrats! Did you get the base model or XT? I'm curious, when you say "list" are you talking the MSRP?

I just bought one yesterday at a dealer 4 hours south of me. Had to go pick up my kid from college (spring break week) so I went early and spent some money. I had looked at on-line deals, hoping I'd find something and have to combine it with a trip to ride it home. I had negotiated out-the-door numbers with a couple of them and this dealer matched my best one. Weather here is still crappy, so I'll either pick it up pick it with my truck up in a week, or wait an extra week or 2 and ride it home.

Congrats on the new bike! Glad to see I'm not the only one that buys a bike without riding it first.

Could you do me a favor and find out if the engine comes in dry, or did the factory leave in oil and/or coolant?
My yet-crated XT awaits me at the Dealer and I'd like to know who decides to fill the oil and coolant. And with what.

Base model I didn't want spoke wheels on a street bike.

And 250 off msrp was the best I could do back in the fall. Weather here sucks we are 6 weeks from riding season still

The engine will have oil in it. They do run the motor as soon as it is born
