Moving Vstrom to Hawaii, what consumables to bring?

I am moving to Oahu for 3 years and I will be taking my vstrom. Due to expensive shipping costs I am going to bring all the service and consumables parts with me. What should I bring. I plan to replace the air filter shortly, bring, 2 sets of tires, new chain and sprockets, new front an rear pads. What else should I bring for the Strom?

Well, since gasoline averages almost $1 more per gallon in Hawaii than in Tennessee, you could almost justify bringing some of that.

Forget any parts, they're easy enough to get onto anytime.
Bring the tools, the workshop manual and the will to do ALL servicing and repairs yourself..
The local grease-monkeys are apparently as dumb as a stack of roof-tiles when it comes to Stroms...a good mate living on the Big Island couldn't get his DL1000 going again by ANY of the local "specialists" after it decided to splutter and fart at anything further than 5 miles out of the garage.

He shipped the bike repeatedly to bike-shops around the islands for 2 years, before giving up and buying a little 250 just to stay on 2 wheels...

You could splash out on all the bearings you will eventually replace if you plan on riding it forever, but what if you wreck the thing next year?

I think you have the basics covered. Wheel bearings are the only thing I would add. Headlight bulbs, perhaps. Maybe that stuff is readily available locally. None of it is vehicle-specific.

Wheel bearings are a good idea. I also have a Honda pcx 150 but I can only ship one bike in the household goods.

Three years is not a long time. I think you're good. How many miles can you put on it in that time? I mean, it's an island...

Maybe also spark plugs if they'll come due. Chain lube?

Will you ship it back, or leave it there?

You are hauling sets of tires over there?

Did you price them out at the Oahu Suzuki dealership or tire shops?

Depending on what island, a motorcycle is pretty much going to get to the point you don't ride it there. There just isn't anywhere to ride to that will keep you interested. Even the "big" island only has so much roadway. Yes the weather is good. But there is a lot of traffic in the populated areas too. I have thought about this stuff when over there. Nice place to visit, but I would give up motorcycling if I were to live there.
