Genuine bash plate instructions

G’day guys.
New to the Vstrom world, just sold a harley and an R1 to acquire my brand new 2016 dl1000

I got myself the genuine bash plate for it, but nowhere can I find the mounting instructions.
Part number is 990AA-FA005-07
Anyone has installed one of those? Mounting kit is too convoluted to wing it.

On a non related topic: can i mount a 2017 screen on it?

Cheers!

Until someone comes along with the requested installation info, you could perhaps have a look at https://www.dualsportplus.com/v/vspf...ructions-2.pdf or https://www.twistedthrottle.com/news...0-v-strom.html

So my understanding is the Suzuki bash plate is made by SWMotech?

If so wouldn't the mounting be the same or very similar?

So with that in mind try this

https://sw-motech.com/cosmoshop/defa..._440_10000.pdf

Or this

Looking up the part number & according to fleabay that is a DRZ400 bash plate. I had a DRZ before I bought my first strom and the skid plate is going to be too small to provide much protection. You will be better off with one designed for the DL1000 like a Happy Trails, Givi, SwMotech, etc.

Cheers guys.

All those plates have very different mounting brackets to the ones that go sold to me.

I went back to the dealer to have him get the instructions from Suzuki, hopefully they have that somewhere at the bottom of a drawer

the part number seems to be the right one for the DL1000 for the DRZ400 if finishes in 01 rather than 07.

Ugly plate and quite big, but better than nothing until I find something else.

Thank for your help!

Only 500kms on the bike and absolutely loving it so far! Very impatient to take her out in the bush.

G'day guys,

Suzuki found the manual!
turns out that most of the items in the bracket kit were in case I hadn't put on the crash bars.

it's now ready to go tackle easy dirt (until I get more knobbly tyres on)

Thanks for you help!

Looks nothing like the Genuine Suzuki part that you get here in OZ, the one here is like the SW Motech one.

Cheers

Got it from a Suzuki dealer in Rockingham, south of Perth.
and thank god I had it, because the ground clearance is not the greatest!!!
I have stiffened the pre-load to get a bit for height when on the bike, but I'll have to keep it more gentle from now on
