SW Motech side rack fasteners

What's up with these over-engineered fasteners? Why would you ever want to quick detach the side rack? If you ever want to steal a fancy set of SW Moteck panniers all you need is a stubby flat head screwdriver. Lol!

Over engineered? They're Germans that's what they do!

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Cor 13:13

They make locking fasteners. The previous owner of my bike put them on. They need the key turned to remove them, like a locking gas cap.

Nobody wants to steal them. They are useless without the parts bolted onto the bike. If you are really worried string a safety cable through them and put a lock under the seat.

I take mine off all the time. My Pelicans are bolted to the racks, so that's how I take them off, one minute job, may be two, have to walk over to the other side ;-)

I have the Givi quick release racks and they have a hole in them so you can put a small padlock on them for security or a small nut and bolt like I have done.

I only fit mine when I want the panniers on the bike. I like the fact that the frames can be removed in seconds. I have Hepco-Becker panniers.
