2015 Windshield Adjustment

Hey All, I picked up a 2015 1000 Adventure and am waiting for the dealership to provide me with the Owner's Manual they lost.

I read in a couple of reviews that supposedly the windshield is adjustable "on the fly," at least, as I take it, the angle is adjustable without tools.

I've fiddled around with it and if it is somewhat adjustable sans tools I can't figure out how to do it.

I can wait for the manual regarding any detailed instructions regarding windshield adjustments, but would just like to know if any adjustments can actually be done with no tools.

I'm glad this forum is here because I'm learning that there isn't a great deal of general information about the V-Strom online for review: don't even have access to an online Owner's Manual which is something I find very odd from Suzuki.

Thanks for any info anybody can share with me!

I do not know about the 2015, but on the 2018, you just push the windshield away from you as your sitting on the bike, and it has a ratchet system and I believe three detents for positions.

Hey, thanks dwayneh. I thought mine looked like it had some kind of ratcheting system that seemed way too complicated to be there if tools were involved in adjusting it. I'll give that a try. I appreciate it!

Push all the way forward and release, position 1 (closest to rider)

Push forward one click, position 2

Push forward again, position 3, (furthest angle from rider)

Make sure they are even on each side, the two sides are independent.

My 2015 has the adjustable upper wing...I set it as far forward as possible and have the main shield in the top position with the long spacers on the bottom. airflow is just right for me at 5'-10" height.

Yup, and this is identical on 2014-2018.

Thanks guys. I've also see now how to adjust the height. Will just have to experiment with it now to see what works best.

"Tool-less adjustment is only for rake as mentioned. Height adjustment requires removing fasteners and moving the screen up or down, then reattaching fasteners.

I'm going to try out some different settings over the weekend. I went through the "windshield chase" with my last motorcycle and opted for a Madstad Adventure windshield but in the end, I wound up doing away with the shield itself and instead just went with the Madstad's metal attachment plate that was the same height as the rest of the front cowling, a few inches shorter than what the stock windshield was. In effect, I had no windshield at all and that's what provided me with the smoothest airflow and made me happy.

Airflow really isn't bad right now with the windshield in its lowest setting (I'm 6'4") but I'll try adjusting the height to see if any slight changes/improvements can be had. So far I haven't noticed any changes at all by adjusting the rake while on the highway. All 3 settings seem exactly the same to me.

At your height, i think you will find that going higher with the stock shield will make things worse. I am 6', all the way down wasnt low enough for smooth air, and all the way up wasnt enough to calm it down either.
