Anti theft

Anyone ever install a kill switch on their bike? Like grounding the coil.

That would only work to prevent a thief from riding off with it, usually what happens is 3 or 4 guys pick it up and put it in a truck and drive off. Then they strip it and sell the parts.

If they tried to start it, they would likely break the steering lock first, then jam a screwdriver in the ignition and hammer it in, then try to start it, basically wrecking it, but not able to ride it away, and when you get out there and think you won, you won't be able to ride it either.

Just have insurance and park someplace safe.

Or you could put a gem of a paint job on your bike like I did mine.
My bike looks like Mortimer Snerd in a crowd of handsome bikes.

If you are talking a DL1000 A then there is a chip in the key. It will not crank unless it reads a valid chip on turn on.
Granted it doesnt stop any lowlife wheeling it into a ute and away with it. Even away it will not start and I believe there is no getting around the electronic lock.

Side thought. Im thinking of putting a Givi Box on the back. But the weight limit of the mount is 13 lbs but the box weights 12 lbs. Anyone run into weight problems and things breaking and how much weight you think you got on the back side? Thanks all.

In Europe and the land of Oz there are anti theft systems in the bike from the factory. Not in North America unfortunately. Guess we don't need it here

Didn't know that, apologies @tomrux

Me I don't want an expensive chiped key. Not much worry about someone stealing a V Strom
