Highest mileage on this generation

So I bought a 14 model with 11k on it last December, have put 3k on it so far this year, but I'm in the Northeast, so have only ridden regularly for about 2 months as we had snow in March an beginning of April... But I fully expect 12-15k this year. Just wondering what mileage people have put on this bike, what repairs that have some/ran into. Also any words of wisdom that you may have told yourself earlier in the ownership cycle... This is my third bike in there years, but I intend on keeping this one until the wheels fall off. My favorite bike all time is a 1200 gs, but I'm not Street parking one of those in NYC, not to mention my fear of BMW maintenance costs.

Well, the 2014 model is just an updated version of the first generation engine. One of the most common failures on that generation was from the charging system. Magnets coming loose in the rotor and subsequent stator problems. The 2014 and up fixes that with encapsulated magnets! So, beyond the rare cam chain/gear issue ( and I do mean rare) there just isn't much to worry about with these engines as far as durability. You might get some engine noise at idle called "Idle Hammer" but that does no harm. You may want to modify the clutch basket when you get more miles, but that won't leave you stranded either.

Mileage expectations? Many owners here have gotten over 100,000 miles on them with no engine issues. But they are far off the record holder. Wera688 still has his 2003 DL 1000 and the last I heard it was at 438,000 miles. Engine has never been apart for repair. Yes, it is showing its age now but it still runs and takes him around locally.
