Shad comfort seat

Has anyone used this seat? If so, how is seat height and comfort compared to original? My bike is 2015 model and I am considering this seat although it is not a gel seat.

I'm hoping you get some feedback as I too am contemplating replacing the stock seat on my '16 DL1000. My goal is a lower seat than the original with, of course, at least a little bit more support. Shad makes no claim to be lower and doesn't seem to offer a low version. Sargent does and I've always had good success with them. My big question is whether the lower seat will really make a difference worth the $400+ investment. The stock seat is surprisingly good but ugly.

Just got the Shad last week. Did 100,200 and 300 mile rides since and so far it has proven better. Just not sure how much better as the last ride I was getting a little sore the last hour. My Sargent on the 650(118K on that seat) is better at this point. Will see as it breaks in. Taking a 4-5K trip in 10 days and will try to report back then.

It is an evolutionary thing, you discover the stock seat gets uncomfortable after the foam compresses, so you want something better, but you don't want to pay the premo price for a Russell, so you pick something in the middle and hope its better, and it is.. for a while, but then you think, crap, I spent $400 and still not totally happy, so you sell it and try another one.. same difference, better, but not perfect.

Finally you buy a Russell, make the big sacrifice with the few hundred extra bucks, but you get something nice instead of something mediocre, and when you sit on it, and go for a ride, you realize you never need to think about your seat ever again.

And in a few years when you sell the bike, you can still sell that Russell for $400, because it is totally worth it.

Maybe find a used Russell instead.

As I live in Europe (Finland), Russell and Sargent may not be option due to delivery costs. I am looking for European sellers.

How about Topsellerie low+extended option? Anyone has it? Or normal+extended. With gel, of course. I had Topsellerie on Bandit, but normal was too short for me, so I believe extended would be better to me as I do not have passenger.

My son had a Shad on his FZ8 and went cross country on it. I was looking at Topsellerie for my CBF1000 but some feedback indicated more looks than comfort.
I'd tend to recommend the Shad based on that limited info. I wish Shad made a seat for the CBF1000 2009.
Shad topcases and bike fittings are a step up from GIVI but it's always chancy with a seat
Maybe work with a seller you can send it back.

Took me 4 brands to get one I liked on my 2010 Wee ( Terry Adcox ) but several were pretty good....the Russell was terrific ( I've had them before ) but too tall for me.

I have a Shad seat. For me the oem standard seat on a 2015 DL1000A was good for about 250 miles before pain set in spoiling the fun. The Shad seat isn't a Russell Day-Long by any means, but for me it is ok for 500 to 600 miles. For days longer than that I use an AirHawk cushion. For long multi-day slogs, I start using the Air Hawk long before I'm uncomfortable and never have a problem. As usual, YMMV.

Question ... what's the seat height? Is it the same as OEM standard?

Yes, pretty much same as the stock seat, but way more comfortable for the long haul.

I didn't notice any difference in seat height at all.
