Octane for dl1000

I'm used to using the highest octane available for my bike coming from a
BMW. Is it overkill to use 93 octane for the strom? My use is mostly for touring speeds.

I use 94 in mine, but mostly because it contains no ethanol. It runs farther on a tank of gas without ethanol, even the bike electronics notice the difference when it estimates the mileage per tank.

Guess it depends on where you live. 100% gasoline is widely available in 87, 89, 91 octane in my state. I use nothing but 100% gasoline in my DL650 as it will sit in the garage for months without being used.

I believe the 2014+ DL 1000 owners manual specifies 89 octane minimum. Doesn't mean you can't get by with "regular" 87 octane like the earlier models specified but there are some differences in the engine that might make 89 octane more appropriate under certain conditions.

the Vee2 calls for 90 - but I (and others) have found that it still runs fine on regular, 87.
