I have one on mine. It has to be "X-TRE" model to keep the gear indicator working. "TRE" model will dissable the gear indicator.
I can't say if I realy need it anymore. I installed it when I first got the bike, back in 2014. The low speed ride was rough, a lot of surging, sometimes stalling... After I installed X-TRE, all of the problems were 90% gone. I didn't care much about speed limiter. I used 5th gear map (after testing other possibilities). Then, one year later, came new ECU and my dealer replaced it with no questions asked. New ECU solved everything by 100%, that X-TRE had solved by 90%. Now I still have both on the bike but I guess X-TRE is now there for nothing, except for removing speed limiter but as I still have it 5th gear map, I guess speed limiter is there as only 4th gear map removes it.
Just too lazy to remove it from the bike now.
