Givi Tank Lock Bag Issues on the V2

Anyone else here use the Givi tank lock bags on their V2? I had the 3D604 that would not work with my V2 but worked fine on my XT. The curvature of the V2's tank prevented the back of the bag from firmly locking in place and would easily pull off. I ended up giving that bag away when I sold my XT and purchased the 3D603 the other day thinking it was just the bag. Well I had the same problem with this one. It seems the flange isn't raised up high enough in the back and once again the curvature of the tank causes the bag to pop off easily. I tried using a few plastic washers I had from my sport bikes windscreens to raise it up and they kind of helped, but I had to leave the screws in the flange looser so as to leave it high enough that the bag can lock in. I'm leaving on a 3000k+ mile trip in 3 days and want to be sure this bag will stay put. Suggestions besides using the strap and strapping it to my handlebars?

That's odd. I have the small one (603) on my vee2 and have no issues. It stays firmly in place, even off road. Maybe you have the wrong flange, or a bad one?
Other than the locking issue, how did you like the larger bag on the vee2? I want to upgrade to a larger one, but i'm concerned about it being too big and in the way when standing, or in the way of the instrument panel when seated.

I have a 3D604 and it works just fine. Clearance all around.

The specific Givi flange for the V2 is very tall; different from any of the others I've had for other bikes. It has to be because of all the high plastic around the filler cap.

Are you using the V2 specific flange?

Have you tried moving the mount (that is on the bag) forward a bit so that the bag moves back and has clearance?

It's not the flange because I had another one I swapped from my XT. That was the first thing I thought of. It's definitely the correct one. The back part closer to the handlebars just doesn't snap in firmly and can be easily lifted off with a little force.
The bigger bag was fine except it interfered with my Ram X-mount. Other than that I liked it.

Yes, it is the same flange for both the 2015 DL1000 and the 2012+ 650's.

How can I move the mount on the bag? It seems secured in place possibly riveted. That would almost definitely work if there was a way without dismantling the bag.

I don't know about that specific Givi tankbag but all the other ones I have played with have four screws securing the base to the tankbag. Flip it upside down and you should easily see them if they are there. You can unscrew them and more the base forwards or back. The holes generally are pre-drilled.

Yea I was just watching a video on YouTube about it. It doesn't appear this one does although it says it does on the tags attached to the bag. There's no place to adjust it to because it's in a recessed location.

fitment chart says otherwise:
BF01 DL 650 V-Strom L2-L3-L4 (11 > 15)
BF18 DL 1000 V-Strom (14 > 15)

Maybe that's your problem.
