Checklist for used 14-16 Vstrom

I'm reading as fast as i can...

I've got a second test ride and after reading the stuff here, am trying to come up with a 1, 2, 3 of the best ways to discern if there are any of the known issues (in my case on the 2014). I can't go digging to get the ecu part number, and won't take the sprocket cover off to check for clutch grime...
But.
What can i do in an on-road test to discern if the bike has known issues?
Like how would you try to trigger the low-speed stall/backfire (gear / speed combination).
I've read other things that mentioned noise/vibration under heavy accel in certain rpm ranges in some gears... anyone know the combo where it would happen.
That's the kind of stuff I'm looking for if anyone can rattle it off.
Oh... also gotta find a description of the functino of the controls on the handlebars to test that everything that touches is working right... traction control, etc.

Thanks

Think we all know what a V Strom looks like by now, just put pics of the goodies you have added!
I can only imagine what a phunter does to his car. Hope you got good insurance

I havent' done doo-da to it yet except put my ram mount on for my phone. Previous owner put on windscreen, givi engine bars, suzuki center stand, givi rear case, tire hugger, an odd horn to try and scare more deer........and stickers. He also drilled the muffler...which wouldn't be my style as i like stealth. But after riding it some... it sounds pretty freakin great (and i can easily plug the holes if i want to try it as stock).

I have the same bike combo you do. DL1000a & XR650L. My poor XR get's ridden less and less.

but you don't see the 919, that's not in this pic

That one is up on the block first... and then I'm fairly certain the XR will go.

Keep them all! Build a bigger garage if you need to, but a guy needs several motorcycles to fit his mood & planned activities. That is what I keep telling my wife and it is working for now.

I have posted this before but there is a spot right at 3500rpm where things seem to vibrate the most. When my tank wiring wore thru, it was cutting out as soon as it got to this spot.
After my crash, they replaced the LH tank plastic. That is the large panel going forward from the side of the tank. This panel has a soft rubber protective strip stuck to it to stop it vibrating. The shop left this off and the resulting noise, at 3500rpm, was unbelievable. Because the plastic is hard and against the tank which is thin steel, it sounds like a metal on metal scenario. So it is no big deal and you can easily sort out as necessary.
