2009 compared to 2015/2016?

Is there anyone here who has ridden/owned both the older Vstrom and the newer one?...1000cc models only please...I'm looking at possibly replacing my 2009 with a 2015/2016 model..
Looking for thoughts/opinions..

It feels smaller between the legs (only time you will hear me say this in a positive way )
handles better
better torque
Key is as big as sword ,great for self defense
looks much better
suspension is much better

and the list goes on

I had a 2004. 2014 is vastly improved, the only thing similar is the brand and bike name, everything else has been updated.

Lighter, faster, better gas mileage, better suspension, ABS and TC, great instrument panel with temp, range, voltage, gear indicator. You can't really compare the two.

Owned 2 previous gen 1000's, but got to take a nice ride on the new and improved one.......and it is literally apples to oranges comparison in my opinion. The new 1000 is in every single possible way better than the original.

I owned a 2007 V1 and put a ton of miles on it. I test rode a friend's V2 extensively and considered a new V2 as a replacement. Like Big B, my opinion is its a better bike in most ways...... but it also has some of the same problems as the V1. The V2 is a superior bike to a V1. It was a hard decision for me......

I went with another flavor.

Thumbs up

I traded my 2007 Vee 1 for my current 2014 Vee 2, specifically for all the upgrades including ABS, traction control, computerized dash info, etc. Better handling, brakes and suspension. Love my new bike even more than the previous, if that's possible. The only negatives I noticed right away was the bar bend puts my hands in a slightly less then perfect angle. I've added bar risers and have just gotten used to them now. Also, at 6-2 with a 35 inch inseam, I immediately felt a bit cramped on the Vee 2 (never an issue on V1). I swapped out to the Suzuki tall seat, installed Rick's most awesome Adventure Tech footpeg lowering kit. These upgrades, with the bar risers, plus an Airhawk seat pad, keep me more comfortable than any bike I've ever owned. Can ride my Vee 2 all day long and still feel great at beer thirty.
