Factory Demo bikes

While shopping dealers I have been offered demo's that have just under 3k miles. anyone have experience with these? Were these test bikes or what? I was told they were not dealer test bikes but released to the dealers before 3k mi. Opinions please

Don't know what country you are in, but in Canada (we are just North of the USA) Suzuki has "demo Days" where riders can try out bikes. I'm sure that is what they are talking about.

..Tom

My Opinion:
Vee or V= DL1000 before 2014
Vee2 or V2 = DL1000 2015 to 2019
Vee3 or V3 = DL1050 2020 to?

My Stroms:
2006 DL650: 202,000 km 125,500 miles, Sold
2012 DL650 139,500+ km, 86,700+ miles. Sold
2015 DL1000 New July 2015 205,000+ km, 127,000+ miles.

This can help preventing from cars pulling out in front of you (SMIDSY)
SMIDSY detailed report.

I agree with Tom. Its a part of a fleet of new bikes that Suzuki drives around for Demo days. Living in Florida and going to bike week, I have rode MANY a demo bike. I have never seen one sale but if the price is right and the warranty in tact, I would be all for it.

One thing about those demo bikes is that the factory rides are usually guided rides and the folks don't have too much chance to beat the bikes up.
Ducati and BMW do allow individual test rides unescorted sometimes. Then folks can go wild and abuse a bike.

I know here we can go ride a Demo bike at any point from any manuf. It's not solely a factory demo bike but a dealer demo. Just like going to a car lot and taking a car for a test drive.

I know my local BMW, Kawi and HD dealers have demo bikes on site all the time available for test rides.

Seems in Calif dealer rides for non European stuff are only when you've laid out some money and want to be sure.
I had a salesperson take me for a pillion ride on a consignment bike cus their insurance didn't cover test rides.

i'm curious what the prices are. I purchased my '14 vee2 this past autumn as a dealer demo with 1500 miles on the clock, first service completed, and included full warranty. They had two new '14's deeply discounted as well. Since the demo looked as good as new and was already broken in, and was $750 cheaper, I went with it.

i did not ride the first bike i bought. i didn't possess my M designation. the salesman rode it home for me, and by car i returned him to the dealership.

i bought my second bike from a private party. the third, new from a dealer. i didn't bother to test ride cuz my heart was firmly set on it, and i knew what to expect. fourth bike, yep, contract was complete except for my sig. i rode the ninja up and down the street two or three times before finalizing.

my strom? around the block before paying.

don't die wondering.

I also purchased a demo bike with 600 miles on it. No regrets here for the $$$ savings!

I also bought my 2013 650 as a dealer demo with 210ish miles on it. Full warranty, looked as good as any other bike in the showroom, and I saved $600. I also believe in the "break it in like your going to ride it" mentality, so I wasn't worried about somebody taking it over 5k RPM before its first oil change.
