Front brake lever / brake light

I have a 2014 DL1000A. I installed additional tail light, brake light and turn signals. Everything looks good and works fine. But while testing to see if I connected all of the wires correctly I noticed that my front brake lever does not activate the brake light. It does not work. The foot brake pedal works fine.

Has anyone had this problem? Is there a quick way to diagnose it? The bike is under warranty and I am a little concerned the dealer will say my auxiliary lights caused the problem?
Any ideas? Thanks.

okay so you don't know if it was working before the mod.
sounds like it's possible the front brake switch is not working since it's odd that the rear is. good point re dealer. what kind of aux. lights did you hook up, a light bar?

I hooked up a brake light and tail light in a trunk (Bestem) I attached and I also hooked up brake, tail, license light and turn signals on a license plate frame with two parallel sets of lights, one row on the top and one row on the bottom.

Everything works fine and I think they make everything more visible. But when checking everything out I noticed the front brake lever does not activate the brake light.

I imagine you just tapped into the wiring at the rear for the extra lights so I don't see how you would cause that. I would check the front brake switch connector at the lever and if that is fine since it's under warranty consider returning to the dealer. Yeah maybe a good idea to undo your work prior.

Yes. I just tapped in using the Eastern Beaver connectors. They work well and I did not have to cut anything.

I'll just take it to the dealer as is with the extra lights. Too much work to
UnDo it all. Plus, I think a little farkling has to be expected when you buy a new motorcycle. Or at least I hope so.

Do you or Anyone else know how to test the front brake switch?

Disconnect the plug that goes to the switch, then shorten the connections inside the plug with metal paper clip or piece of wire, turn the ignition on and see if the brake light turns on. If it does, you need new switch.
By the way, did you check if the connection to the switch is ok? Maybe connector simply fell off?

Thanks for your suggestion. When I went to try it out I found out the wire connector had just come off. That must have happened when I put on the heated grips. Plugged it back
In and it works fine, happy to say.
