FI light came on this morning

Not sure why FI light came on this morning ..started it up just like I have for the last year and 1/2....For some reason the FI light continued to stay on, revved the engine a little, sounded fine, no problems....shut off turned back on, FI light went off...I use the bike for commuting and long trips, never had a problem.....

Maybe. Mine started coming on when I put in low octane fuel. With the correct fuel it now comes on rarely and I ignore it. Restarting the engine resets the light to off.

An FI indicates a problem, usually with a sensor or its wiring. It's best to pinpoint the problem by shorting the white/red and black/white (ground) wires together at the dealer mode connector. FAQ: Dealer Mode & FI Error Codes
That will show any codes actively causing an FI. The Suzuki SDS tool or HealTech Suzuki OBD tool will also display and clear stored codes. I'm not sure where the dealer mode connector on the Vee2 is but it is likely under the seat. The wiring diagram shows two white wires with red stripes at the same connector. It's the one from the ECM that needs to be connected to ground to engage dealer mode.

Some codes will allow the engine to keep running but the ECM feeds a default mixture when it can't get proper sensor readings. Running with an FI is likely to produce poor fuel economy along with other problems associated with running too rich.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Sometimes the lights lie. I get an FI indication for a C23 condition which does not exist. Just a false positive occasionally.

Also, my overdrive light comes on in 5th gear occasionally. It lies too. Not all the time, but it's annoying.

She still rockets down the road though, so all is good.

Yes, I experience loss of power (acceleration rate) and higher fuel consumption when the light is on. Thankfully the FI lights rarely lights now, since I got back to correct octain fuel, but unfortunately the fact remains that the cure hasn't been total as it first appeared. I'll be finding a workshop I have confidence in to do their computer testing, soon, and thanks again greywolf for your guidance.
