Poll: Clutch chudder and idle hammer problems with the 2014's

I'm considering buying a 2014 V2, but reading these reports about clutch chudder and idle hammer issues within the first 2000 miles is quite frankly starting to scare me away. I want to get a feel for the severity and magnitude of these issues.

So how many of you WITH AT LEAST 2000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER have had any kind of clutch chudder or idle hammer issues?

Please answer the poll at the top of the page rather than posting results unless adding information beyond the poll questions.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s
See https://www.stromtrooper.com/general...nicknames.html

Please vote in the poll on what Strom(s) you have at https://www.stromtrooper.com/informa...-you-have.html

Noisy V2 engine

After I had my first service done at 600 miles I noticed a noticeable hammer at idle and felt a kind of clanging vibration as the rpm's came up to the sweet spot of about 3800. I thought maybe they hadn't put enough oil in so I took it back to have it topped off. It sounded a little better after adding another 3/4 of a quart so I was hoping that was it and I took off on a 800 mile road trip. The bike performed well in all ways except for the engine. After warming up and riding for a 20 minutes or so the hammer and clank return and no matter how far I push my earplugs into my ears and turn up my music I still couldn't escape the unwanted vibrations. It feels like something is either not getting lubricated properly or that something is out of synchronization. It really seems to me like Suzuki needs to engineer a fix for this annoying development. It took 600 miles for the problem to surface and no test ride would have allowed the condition to be heard. Had I known then what I know now I would not have bought the bike.
It's in the dealership now getting looked into and I will let this thread know what I hear.

Only Idle Hammer

Started at 1000km. I don't think it is consequential. The dealer and mechanic and I reviewed the 'limp' the engine has at hot idle. We decided it was likely two things contributing: throttle body synchronization required because the airflow to each cylinder differs, probably related to different cam chain wear affecting valve timing AND very lean idle mixture causing combustion instability which can be heard at the exhaust. We decided that California requirements to adjust the TBS are probably wise. We will do the TBS adjust and set the idle at 6000km.

I don't know if it applies here but the 1995 Honda VFR 750 had an idle hammer issue (just that year, funnily the 1994 didn't) that turned out to be end knock on the camshaft. Honda fixed it by getting a hole drilled which fed oil under pressure to the end of the camshaft. Anyway, the symptoms sound similar, including the time needed for the problem to develop, so I thought I'd mention it because a lot of us spent time chasing other causes.... Obviously it was irritating but not a requirement to have it fixed.

So far 4 "yes's" and 0 "no"'s. I'm not liking the way this is looking so far.

To be meaningful the number of owners of this bike on this forum is needed as if there's a 1000 owners and only 4 complain about the "problem" it's a different proportion if there's only 5 owners.

Not to mention the one guy above who said he's not having those problems but apparently doesn't know to click on the poll answer.

I'm not having any problems either at 2500 miles although I don't think it's going to do much to calm anyone down by saying as much. I'll add my vote though so there's at least a "1" count represented in some kind of baseline.
