Gear Noise.

Several years ago I was all set to buy a Tiger when I test drove one. Gotta say the whine coming off the motor was a major annoyance for me. It's been described as anything from a Jetson's car to a sewing machine. What I have heard with the V is quite similar.
So... will it die down as it wears in? Or always be there? Would an aftermarket can distract me enough from it? No a deal breaker because I think an aftermarket can would really enhance that V twin bark. And, admittedly, I do want my bike to sound good.

It will always be there. I don't notice it anymore.

A bike with a hybrid gear/chain valve system is likely going to have some gear whine. My SV1000 certainly did and they're not that different.
FWIW though I had two Tigers and never really noticed any 'whine' in either of them although they were somewhat prone to a fair amount of mechanical noise.

Reduces all sorts of noises you'd worry about, for no good reason
