Is it too much

I've been looking on bike sales , and it seems the dl 1000 is on there for a ride away price of $13500 on average . I bought my 2012 650 a few months ago for $10.500 ride away , i was offered the 1000 for $12000 ,

Point i'm making is from what i gather the expected price of the new v strom is around the 17-18 grand mark ,(australia ) .

Do you think its going to sell , after all you can pick up new 2011 model Teneres ride away for $17500 and thats before you start haggling , and you do have a very good haggling point , there 3 years old when you ride them away .

Do you think , that suzuki may just be over pricing this model a little bit , personaly i do . a Tenere for $17500 or a 650 V strom for $10500 , i'll go the 650 .

But for a grand or two same price , for me its the Tenere . whats your thoughts .

I do think they are pushing the price

Here in the USA Yamaha is over 15K with discounts available but V2 less than 13K so there is some price advantage

I operate with a premise that most really want a bmw or me a KTM and when your within like 25% getting what you really want starts making sense

After a life long of buying motorcycles no more Yamahas for me though

I reckon that the new V-Strom 1000 in Australia will be no more than $15990.00, maybe even less

Interesting ,, whys that , i've only ever had one yamaha , a fjr 1100 i bought it secondhand , seemed to be in imaculate cond , 40,000 klm on the clock , less than 5 ooo klm later , the gearbox packed up , ( jumping out of gear ) Remember quite well $2500 - $3000 everyone wanted to fix it , turned out it was a very common problem , , , I did'nt really blame yamaha , but i do reckon the dealer dodged it up to sell , 25 years later i still stay clear of that dealer .

Certainly hope so , if its not when it comes out , guarantee it will be after they get stuck with them , , just look at the prices there willingg to put the Teneres out for on the stock they cannot get rid off

The inflation adjusted price of the 2002 V-Strom was about $17K.

Yen to AUD was about 65 in 2002.

The Yen to AUD is now about 92.

So maybe the $15K - 16K is in the ballpark.

New S10's are still advertised as 20K, The GS is 26,5 (no they don't import the base model they continue to advertise) and the 1190 is about $22K.

So either way 17K is still the cheapest MSRP to MSRP. (well last time I looked)

The new 2014 S10 will have a fair bit more "stuff" if they bring in the E model though.

SO yeah, great time to be an ADV / General Purpose bike buyer.

2010 S10
