So what bike or bikes is the new DL1000 supposed to be competing with?

Don't listen to either BigB or StrominNorman, they're both way, way off base.

The new DL1000 is only meant to compete with the Rokon.

2009 DL650A-Gone to a good home

I reckon that the Triumph Tiger 1050 Sport is the closest competition and maybe the Kawasaki Versys 1000.

Now will someone please buy my R1200GS Adv........

Biggest competition might be the new Wee.

I know that now that I've seen the (MSRP) price of the V2, a 2014 Wee2 (white, if you don't mind), purchased in the first few days of 2014, is beginning to sound pretty good to me.

2007 Wee. Blue. Bought at 5K miles. Sold at 32K+ miles. Gone but not forgotten.

2012 Wee2 Adventure. Black. Bought at 26K miles. Now 46K+. Love it!

Probably be a good competitor for wifey time as well. As for sales, for every one that's sold that's one less BMW, Tenere, KTM, Explorer, XC...etc being bought... I think this bike could gobble up a nice market share of the ADV bikes out there.
