Alternative Chudder fix?

I was communicating with John at vibefreevstrom about the clutch chudder problem in the 1000. He suggested a new Suzuki part that is a supposed permanent fix. Does anyone know about this, or has anyone tried it? It costs 220.35 and has the Suzuki limited part warranty. It's called GEAR ASSY,PRIM 21200-31Y11 at Partzilla.

I think that is the entire basket, if I got the correct parts diagram. Yes that is what needs to be repaired but nope, I wouldn't do it if I were you because Zuki makes the new ones about the same as they made yours new. How'd that work out???? I'd suggest you look into Werks Parts for a rebuild. https://www.werksparts.com/ I'm one very satisfied customer.

Iím not familiar with the later years details as I have a K2 but I highly recommend the Werks clutch basket.
Who wants to do that job again? With Terry you are getting a re engineered part that is known to work.
The extra 100 bucks or so is more than worth it in my opinion.

I've done the Werks basket on two of my VS1000's. Very happy with it and simple to do. My VS that's going to Argentina will get new basket in November.

My VS1000's are an 02 with 110,000 miles, 05 with 80,000 and an 08 with 32,000. My BMW has 210,000 and what's it has cost me in repairs would have paid for the other three bikes.

Yes, good ole John. He also said the "new" part that came out with an improved casting around 2012 would be a permanent fix. That didn't work out either. He has been telling customers from the US that this new part is a permanent fix and that modifying a DL 1000 basket no longer makes sense. The latest "new" part is not improved where the chudder comes from.

The 2018 and up basket does have a nicer ground finish on the main bearing surface of the steel gear. But the same narrow, soft aluminum that it runs against. It also has a hardened steel washer under the belleville washers. This will lessen wear on those, but that has not been an issue anyway. Once modified, these belleville springs don't move nearly as much, so wear is considerably less anyway.

I am using these as the base part for all new OEM modified DL 1000 baskets. But they are not a fix as delivered. For one thing, they don't have the second bearing I install. And eventually the bearing surface will erode, and the inner plate will get loose, just like previous years.

If you buy one, keep your old basket. That way you will have one to send in for modifying when the new one starts chuddering!

Hmm, ok, I'm convinced. It's a WERKS basket for me then. I don't want to take a chance. I've only had this bike for a couple of weeks and am wondering if the "chudder" causes general engine vibration as well as chuddering when you start out. I was running about 5-6,000 rpm and noticed a quite annoying vibration.
