Odometer

Greetings all
an unusual problem.
I have a 2002 DL1000 which has done just over 200,000 km. Problem is that the odometer is stuck on 199999. Is this a glitch in the odometer or is it programmed to not register anything over 200000?
Any ideas on how to reset / zero the odometer? Depowering the EMS didn't work.

Condolences, my BMW did the same thing. PITA.
My 04 Dl650 did just roll over 100K miles. Looking forward to seeing 200K but maybe there isn't a 2 in the system?

That his correct. The odometer on your model maxes out at 199,999. See this thread. https://www.stromtrooper.com/dl1000-...999-miles.html

Thanks to all who replied. I had done a quick search but failed to find relevant thread - need to improve my search skills. I guess I'm stuck with using the trip meter untill I find someone capable of resetting it.

I had a local guy in Atlanta GA who was certified to reset my odometer do it for me. There are a couple of tricks to doing it he said. I used my tripmeter to keep track and then used that number to start the reset.

I talked to a Suzuki tech at the VIR AMA races years ago about the super high mileage V Strom 1000. He had worked on the odometer of that particular bike and reworked the odo (with a mileage certification) to allow it to read beyond the 199,999 mile mark.

So yes it's possible to have it 'tweaked' to read higher mileage.

Planned obsolescence? No more miles can be certified so you need a new bike? Sales Ploy? Dang the bad luck!
