This is a long forgotten fix that I used myself for nine years with a Givi D260ST screen. Remove the windscreen and windscreen carrier. What I'm calling the carrier is the plastic structure between the windscreen and the fairing. Get a 10 mm longer 6 mm bolts from Ace hardware and a 1" stack of 1/4" or 6 mm washers. Remount the carrier with a 1/2" stack of washers beneath the lower two windscreen carrier bolt hole.

this kicks out the lower art of the windscreen so that more air goes under it and moves the top of the wind screen slightly closer to your head. The reduces differential pressure from the front to the back of the screen that results the air remaining smoother longer and less buffeting to the helmet.

Step two order our mirror extenders. They will noticeably reduce air coming off the mirrors. Guaranteed.

Here's my old V1k, note the added wings on the screen, AND, the lexan shields from the fairing down to the crashbars. Those stop the wind that hits your legs and come up your torso. My current 650 has the same things PLUS a homemade MRA type spoiler on the screen. My 650 is as good as I've ever managed to get on a Vstrom

Having a 2006 , I would have to say that my 18 1000 has wind turbulence much worse than that more fully "cockpitted" gen 1 wee.
The wind tugs my helmet upward, fills my sleeves and generally the ride is less enjoyable at highway speeds, so no I would not expect any improvement. Its hard to say where it comes from, they eliminated the lower shroud by the lower triple tree and put that scrawny narrow module dash above it and the results are what you would expect.

I got the Aprilia mirrors of Ebay and have just got a short ride in. They make a difference but it was a short ride. I hit 75 on a back road and I am impressed. 40.00 for the 2 mirrors may have done the trick. Weather is crappy here so it will be a few days to get a decent ride in. Thanks for any input, keep it coming.
