Weight of gen 1 DL1000 engine?
I am looking at shipping a DL1000 engine and trying to find out it's weight. does anyone know?

Whipit, Mine, with me, full camp gear, full fuel, spare parts and 10 liters spare fuel, food for 3 days weighs 1020 lb.
Owner's manual says it weighs 525 (I believe that's dry weight, no fluids) and had a max load of 440 LB including rider(s), for a GVWR of 965 LB.
I've not weighed mine wet but without me and trip gear aboard. I'd guess it would be about 600-650.

Just shipped a 650 motor and it weighed 154# crated. Add maybe 20-25# for a 1000

7/16 chipboard and 1X2 inside corners. 2X4 on bottom ends. 15-20#?

I looked into this once. You just about have to ship these via truck freight. UPS has something like a 160 lb weight limit. However, truck freight isn't usually all that expensive. The problem is that you almost have to take it to a terminal or find someone that ships truck freight out of their business.
I couldn't get under the weight limit with the 1000.

A local shipping agent has daily p/u by FedEx"frieght". $240 to Calif. $4.50 of that was his fee.
