Hi All, new to the forum. Purchased a 2012 1000 from a good friend late last summer and starting the prep to make it "mine". I chose the Altrider bars because I loved the look of the bars and skid plate combo. Not until I had the bars in hand did I discover that the Altrider plate for the 1000, while seen on half a dozen websites, is discontinued and no one seems to have one anywhere left in stock. I got close when I thought I found one in the UK but it did not pan out.


If one if you have one sitting on a shelf somewhere, let me know... but assuming that wont happen:

what skid plate would you guys suggest for this build? SW Mototech is the direction I am leaning now, but wanted to talk to the guys who have used this stuff to get an educated opinion.

I'm in the same exact situation. Looking forward to hearing what people have to say on this.

This may not be relevant to the 1000, but I just got the crash bars and skid plate from AltRider 2 weeks ago for my 2013 650.
They had just received all of the European inventory back to Seattle, and had 2 skid plates. The skid plates were not available for the last couple of years. I really like how the bars and plate bolt together.
