Lake Manicouagan

Has anyone made the journey? Any place nearby to stay? Any advice would be great.

There should be lot's of riders that have ventured up there. If you search advrider under the term Manic Cinq you should find some good info. I've read that the dam itself is quite a place to visit. The 389 heading up that way is supposed to be a twisty, fun (and bumpy) road. It's been on my bucket list for a few years now to get up that way.

Are you camping or looking for accommodations? Motels (and gas) can be a bit expensive up that way.

I did Baie Comeau all the way round and on to Newfoundland via the TLH two years ago. The road to Manicouagan isn't too bad (pavement and gravel), but I was pretty wet and cold by the time I got there.

There's a truck stop/motel there:

Relais Gabriel

Good food, IIRC. It's not very big, so plan ahead if you want to stay there. We camped up the road (Gagnon).

Road trip report, lotsa pics.

If you decide to do the TLH, the nastiest bit was Km 482 to the Labrador border: Twisty, loose gravel/sand and trucks. Once you got into Labrador, it was usually only two of those three...

Is it all pavement from Baie Comeau to the Dam?
