When I moved here from Ottawa, I figured I was moving to the tropics. Not so, not this year anyway. The roads aren't too bad, even the dirt ones leading from here.

My 400m driveway is where the problem is. It mostly runs east-west through a forest and gets no noonday sun. It's still a mixture of snow, ice and a few patches of half frozen mud. In a couple of weeks or so it should be nice soft wet caca.

I'm still in for the Bancroft lunch.

You obviously need to quit your job and become independently wealthy. Move south and ride to your hearts content.

The drawback is that you will be living in the Great Satan, unless you move to Mexico. My daughter has informed me that our country's new name is Mexico North.

Garage
Thumbs up Same place - better food

South Algonquin Eatery & Pub
4 Bridge W, Bancroft, 613-332-3450

New owners, new name, new staff, new menu; but of course better food at good prices. I've checked and the place will be open and looking forward to having us, and all of our gear. I'll call a day or so ahead and give them a better idea as to a final head count.

I spoke today with one of the new owners, Naomi, about the place, the food and prices and all the space we need to pile our gear. I think it will be great.

So road conditions permitting, we'll park and meet at exactly the same location at 4 Bridge St. W in Bancroft. (the old name was Thomas Oliver's Pub)

I hoping for about a dozen riders.

Thanks 568V8!

I will edit the first message to reflect the new name. I am sure this is the same people that run the restaurants in Harcourt and now in Wilberforce.

..Tom

EDIT: Looks like I can't edit my first message for some reason. I have asked Greywolf if he can edit it for me.

My Opinion:
Vee or V= DL1000 before 2014
Vee2 or V2 = DL1000 2015 to 2019
Vee3 or V3 = DL1050 2020 to?

My Stroms:
2006 DL650: 202,000 km 125,500 miles, Sold
2012 DL650 139,500+ km, 86,700+ miles. Sold
2015 DL1000 New July 2015 205,000+ km, 127,000+ miles.

This can help preventing from cars pulling out in front of you (SMIDSY)

ohhhh Wilberforce and Harcourt.

My grandfather bought the first cottage you come to when you turn north onto Cardiff Lake road off the 648 and pass the beaver dam back in the 50's (basically across the street from Mumford road where the dump is).

That cottage was in our family for 60ish years up to about 5 years ago when he passed and family politics sold it.

haven't been up that way since.

We used to walk the train tracks from our cottage into Harcourt for candy.

I really hope I can make it for this ride with my newly acquired 09' DL650A

My best advice to any young person is to write down the top ten things you want in a partner, then become that person.

I don't have the nuts to pull the bike out yet. I found I'm a pussy when the temps get below 4C in the morning. Need a heated vest and better hand protection. The heated grips just don't stop the dreaded frozen thumb tips.

Heated Gloves. Along with a heated jacket liner all is toasty warm...

hey guys/girls

Thought I would drop in and say hello,I'm new to the board but not to riding.
I had a bike in my late teens/early twenties, took a break for a few years do to different priorities.I'm 33 now and have been back on the bike going on 5 years.I just picked up a new to me 09 zx6r.I like riding up north and have been all over ontario.Although I ride a sportbike I think my riding style is more sport touring, like to explore and see new places, things.
I've found a lot of sportbike riders are balls out all the time, and seem to have very little common sense that's not really my riding style(i prefer to keep my license)I'm in mississauga .I'm more of a fair weather rider ,but I would like to make this meet assuming the weather is not too bad and nobody minds a zx6r ? ,hope to meet up for some rides this season, cheers

Hi Mr.detox,

Welcome aboard!

It's a meetup of a bunch of riders that enjoy riding so everyone is wellcome. It doesn't matter what kind of bike you have. It will be mostly Stroms but there will be some other bikes as well.

Have a great ride everyone, wish we could ride along, but not happening.

If we can do anything to add of interest Tom, let me know.

Now back to praying for some decent weather, this cold is driving me

Cheers
