Lightbulb Purchasing a used weestrom questions.

Hey fellow Canucks!

I've been quite obsessed with purchasing a Weestrom for the last year or so.

I have been tire kicking used Wee's for about 4 or 5 months now and have found one I'm serious about purchasing.

It is a 2006 with 25,000 MILES on it. (40,000kms)

I got a Carproof report and it looks like it was imported into Canada almost immediately after it was shipped to a dealer from the manufacturer (beginning of 2007) and has never transferred ownership until the current dealership took possession of it.

Other then that there are zero issues on the Carproof report.

With the amount of farkles on it I'm thinking the previous owner did it up for one big trip and then pretty much took it off the road.

It is now at an actual dealership for the last yearish.

The dealership is asking ~$6K which seems ridiculously high considering there are 2008/2009 models on Kijijii with full luggage and crash bars and more for around that price and those come with ABS too.

some of the Wee's farkles include.

Fog lights
Audiovox cruise control
Givi adjustable windshield
Stebel airhorn
Fork Braces
Heated grips
Hand Guards
Rad Guard
Skid Plate
Dash tray
12 volt outlet.

and most importantly for me personally it has lowering links (I'm short).

It does NOT come with any sort of luggage but used tail cases can be had for under $200 now it seems.

I'm wondering if I can get opinions on what would be a more in line price for me to be offering on this Wee.

I posted this in the Canadian forum as it's to do with purchasing a Wee in Canada although it is an American bike.

If there is another forum that would be better for me to post this in please let me know.

Thanks.

What was confusing about that?

It is an American bike that was imported into Canada.

I thought that was relevant as I've heard imports lose added value as re-sales.

I think ABS is important Your choice. ABS became an option in '07 in the U.S.; I don't know about Canada

Fog lights meh
Audiovox cruise control OK
Givi adjustable windshield With the Mastad bracket?...good
Stebel airhorn Good
Fork Braces Very good, US$85 + postage

Skid Plate probably good

12 volt outlet good if you'll use it
Prices are local, and we know that Canadian prices are higher than U.S. prices.

Yes you are correct.

I worded that poorly.

The link is to the current bike I have and am using as a trade in.

The picture at the bottom of the post is the Wee I am looking to purchase.

Hi Casper - welcome!

Lowering links are cheap and easy to install. Even if I was shorter, I would not let that be a determining factor to buy a bike. My quick answer to your question would be to offer around $5k for that bike as a low starting price. Like you said, it's been sitting there for a year. There are newer DL1000's with less mileage and decent accessories selling for the same price.

For what it's worth and to put the bike you mentioned into some context, in 2008, I paid $6,800 for a 2006 DL650 that had far more accessories with only 14k on the odo. It's now 5 years later and you have noticed that a same model/yr bike is selling with more mileage and less accessories for only $800 less. I do see that that picture also show engine guards (Givi?) which might be worth about $150-$200.

There are very few 650's for sale right now due to the season. My advice... if they don't lower the price considerably, don't rush and wait a bit... you will be able to find an excellent lower mileage bike for cheaper than that.
A fellow I ride with on this forum picked up an '05 Strom last year with only 15k for about $4500 - and that's only about $1k more than you are asking for your ninja... And your ninja is a good bike that should find a home pretty easily if it's well maintained.

All that said, the '06 models are awesome bikes. Others have taken them to well over 200k and I rode mine until about 90k without the slightest hiccup.

A quick rundown on rules.

No sale posts outside the For Sale forum.
You have to have over 20 days membership and over 20 posts to sell something unless you are a forum supporter.
That's three strikes. I've seen people banned for as much.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

it's probably worth that with the extras if you want all of them. but it's still an old technology bike compared to the new 2012. i personally would not pay more than $4k for it with all the addons. there are better deals...a $200 plane ticket will expand your search area.

Hey casper, I purchased my '06 Wee two years ago for $3600 Can. It had around 36,000 Kms and minimal farkles. Just the crash bars and centre stand. Oh and it had a set of new Tourances. It's been a great bike and I am slowly getting it farkled to my liking. Six grand seems a bit pricey but that is a decision you have to make. Hope this helps some.
