I went to the rally in 2008, but not the dual sport ones. Our rides went all day and averaged 300 miles on great Oregon roads. Lots of twisties and great scenery. The year I was there, the dual sport ones went off road in the Mt Hood area and up Windy River along the back side of Mt St Helens
the event is very organized and there are guest speakers discussing various topics. We were entertained by David Hough who spoke on Cornering dynamics. Since last year they now run all 4 rallies at the same time. There should also be some demo bikes there and vendors.

Last year, I was planning to go to the "road" version of the rally, not knowing that there were parallel rallys for each discipline. Didn't end up going, but may this year.
Since Wees are happy on either gravel or pavement, I'm torn...
I went in '06 or '07. It was a lot of fun. Many riders from BC were there. I was in the Sport Bike group. A lot of good info and they opened a road that is curvy and closed that was great fun. It is a great area for DS bikes, and many roads are close that 'Stroms are fine riding on. BMW had bikes to ride and test out and some great deals on tires too.
I may see you down in Oregon. I am thinking of going to the BMW MOA rally in Redmond, Oregon the week earlier to meet up with some friends, then head over to the coast for a few days, then north on Hwy 101. Maybe on my way back I could ride past Stevenson.
they had great deals on tires there. If you book them ahead they bring their truck and install them for you, usually FREE.
the Windy River route along the east side of Mt St Helens is one of the best motorcycle roads in Washington. Have fun . . .
Not to be a snob but that is the 'Wind River' or 'Windy Ridge', 2 different things that look like they are getting confused. (might be easier if you are trying to find them on a map) Have fun in my backyard guys, I think you'll enjoy it.:yesnod:
I am referring to NF25 south from Randle to Carson. near the lower part it follows the WIND RIVER. Near the beginning there is NF99 which goes to the Windy Ridge lookout at Mt St Helens. Approx 80 miles of switchbacks and twisties, just watch out for the frost heaves
it is a great road and you are lucky to live in the area.
'The 25 road' as I and many others call it was what the V-Strom was made for. We just don't tell anyone about it. :mod_wink:
There is a lot of great riding in the area and Gorgerider and I have talked about doing a multi-day rally in the area.
Since I can't make the VSTROM rally in Colorado, I'd consider doing this. The Sport Touring event looks good ... same dates. I'm not keen on "serious" off road riding.
Gimme a shout, perhaps I could be convinced to go?
Craig.
