OEM Maintenance kitdirect from Suzuki

My Alls Balls fork seals were leaking again this spring so I thought I would go back to OEM and do it myself and save a couple of hundred over having the dealer do it. Suzuki Canada will sell the kits to you direct. Suzuki.ca click Shop Now then Care and Maintenance and Maintenance Kits. The fork seal kit for my 13/650 gets you everything you need except the outer bushings. Dust seals, oil seals, retaining clips, inner bushings, copper washers for bottom bolts, and two sets of O rings for the tube caps. Priced out at 170 bucks US on Bike Bandit for $79. Picked up a drive chan and sprocket kit for $197 at the same time. Just waiting for some outer bushings and a chain tool from Fortnine and I’ll be hitting the garage with cold beers

Hey BC Rider, thanks for the info!

Unfortunately the kit for the 2006 DL650 only comes with the oil seals, dust covers, o-rings, retaining clips and copper washers and they are out of stock anyway. I really wanted to try the OME kit but not without the bushings.

Or

The website forgot to include the bushings in their picture but it looks to me like the picture on the box is depicting bushings. I suppose I will need to get some clarification from Suzuki.ca when I check to see if they plan to get any more kits in for the Gen-1.

I wasn't expecting the bushings. Didn't notice the picture on the box. Called the local dealer to price out OEM bushings and they came to just over 80 bucks but were out of stock and being shipped from Japan. Ordered inner and outer aftermarket from Fortnine and then the kit arrived with them included. They charged 18 bucks shipping (Purolater) or free shipping to a local dealer. Not sure if the 18 bucks was a flat rate or because of the weight of the chain and sprockets.

I expected it would be cheaper in the states. Exchange is running around 25% IIRC. The local dealer is about 35km away and on some items likes to be paid in advance if it is ordered in. So rather than make two trips it was simpler to order from Suzuki and stroll to the mailbox.

"The local dealer is about 35km away"

Our BMW dealers used to be like that. The Power sports down the street a mile handles Kawasaki and they had a version of the Strom back in 2000's. So they have the part book for a lot of the 650's too.
When in doubt, the dealer can get factory parts and it may be easier than trying to second guess equivalent/replacement parts.

When I lived up by Nelson B.C. The Suzuki/Kawasaki dealer had burned down years back and the Honda dealer took up the slack. They would order in Suzuki parts for me and did my first valve check.
