route suggestions T.O. to Phily

I am headed from Toronto to Philadelphia in August. Planning on taking 2 days to get there and 2 days to get back.

Any route suggestions/tips?

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest 2 days via Allegheny and Susquehannock Forests and 2 days via Adirondacks, Big Indian Wilderness and Delaware Recreational Tract. When I have a bit more time, I can post up a sweet route there and back for you.

What are you generally looking for? There are plenty of nice places to see in Penn, I guess it just deepens on what you want to see or how your ride (back roads or highway). I'm not too sure about New York state, I tend to travel south or west.

There are plenty of other riders in the area so I'm sure they will chime in

Some Points of Interest I'll toss out:
East part of PA:
Bills old bike barn
Bill's Bike Barn
Very unique place, Can spend a few hours in there.

Mid section of PA
PA Grand Canyon - Lodging, Attractions, Directions, Maps

Western part of PA
Kinzua Bridge State Park Kinzua Sky Walk
Kinzua Bridge State Park - Kinzua Sky Walk - Allegheny National Forest | Kinzua | Pennsylvania | Trails | Camping | Attractions

Roads:
Really the only road that I note worthy for the direction you maybe going is route 611
Going north I tend to start around Lake Nockamixon and end at Stroudsburg, PA
Nice paced 40ish MPH semi twisties that are not very technical, but not boring, by the Delaware river. From there you can continue up north (I never did) but it gets more "main road" but there are other major roads in the area that you can use to get "back on track"

Do you have any idea on what you wish to do once you get into the Philadelphia area?

2009 DL650 Oort Gray Metallic Edition
1985 Honda Rebel CMX250C
(Bike rescue/rebuild project)
2003 SV650 Fast Silver Edition

If it aint broke, take it apart and make it better.

I grew up in the Philly area and did a lot of riding through central PA and through the Adirondacks from Boston, but the Adirondacks are pretty far east from the Toronto area. I'd come down over the Finger Lakes, down 89 along Cayuga Lake, 79 to 206 to 30 and 28 through the Catskills, then 9W south along the Hudson to 210W back through Bear Mountain State Park to 17A west, 94W to 611 south right into Philly. On the way back I'd slab 76W into King of Prussia, then 422W, then 100N, 73W to 61N, 42N to 154 through World's End (Grand Canyon of PA) then up 14N to Watkins Glen, up along Seneca Lake to 20W and towards home. Definitely some nice riding up through there.

Get busy living, or get busy dying...

Hey if you could do that I would really appreciate it. I've been through Pennsylvania a couple of times and the roads were great.

We're probably just going for dinner and drinks and Philly. Not really a sight seeing trip - chose it because it seems like the right distance for a 5 day trip.

You are missing the best riding areas in Pennsylvania by staying that far east.
Juan has a much better plan....you even have enough time to do the South East Ohio as well.

http://www.bestbikingroads.com/motor...io-_-4690.html
118 vetted routes in Ohio

This from another rider is a good loop

I'm there now - it took me 8 hours to get here to Cambridge OHbut that was slab.

You get to good riding in PA in 5 hours from Toronto starting Coudersport via 219 the 44/144 to kick it off marvelously.

Doing 126 today and then see where the wind blows me. These are all roads vetted by riders

down through the park

Might do the scenic route on 7 along the Ohio River ...would be silly busy today.

West Virginia is accessible on that time frame.

TO YYZ - consider this too- New York has a ticket agreement with Ontario ....PA does not.

BTW SE Ohio is just superb riding.

If you decide on Lake Placid area - do Whiteface. Good fun.
