Question What's the road like from Nanaimo Lakes to Lake Cowichan?

I'm heading two-up tomorrow to Port Renfrew from Nanaimo (ferrying over from the mainland) - a last-minute trip.

From what I can see, the route to the Nanaimo Lakes looks good. What's the connection like from there to Cowichan Lake? If it's a quick ride, I'd rather do that than from Duncan.

Gotta be in Port Renfrew for dinner at 6.

Any feedback this evening would be appreciated.

Thanks.

We did that route last year but turned back here

As kid had a problem of some sort - don't recall.

Lots of sports bikes went by us so I assume the road is decent.

This is from street view

ahh got that wrong

Turns to gravel part way Nanaimo Lake to Cowichican

Thanks for the info.

Gravel is fine. Skull sized rock is not.

More concerned about time and passenger comfort than anything else.

Myself, I'd like to go off pavement the whole way, but we have a dinner reservation to make and so, route planning is necessitated.
