new seat ... any feedback on this fellow???

Finally decided to look into a new seat. I was fine on the OEM seat for a while. But now, my old arse starts-a-achin' after about 45 minutes.

Anyways, I just came back from the Toronto motorcycle show, and spoke with Tim Pearson (Triple K Upholstery) there ...

Price seemed okay, and it's Canuck bucks. But does anyone have any first-hand experience with him/his seats?

Also, I haven't been riding for long, so how do I know what to specifically ask for in custom seat re-do?
Also, he mentioned that synthetic is "maintenance-free" but, that aside, is leather a better option?

Thanks, in advance.

Leather is hot in the sun cold in the cold and sucky in the rain

I replaced the stock seat of my 2013 650 with a Seat Concepts one. You replace the stock foam and seat cover with their kit. I am quite happy with the result. Did a 13 hour ride once with no discomfort. Here's the link with photos I took of my seat https://www.stromtrooper.com/dl650a-2...oncepts-3.html it's post 24 on the page.

My riding buddy is on his second Seats Concept seat (first it was Wee and now Wee2) and pretty happy with it too. Considering it myself.

I'd also recommend Seat Concepts. Don't expect miracles but my wife and I did 3000k's over 5 days recently, she had the airhawk and I had the SC seat, I came out best.

The other thing that helps is riding pushbikes, much of the problem is caused by poor muscle tone and the poor circulation that results from that.

Synthetic is best, leather is for 'show bikes'. A custom seat can be better, but you ideally want something that's dish shaped like a tractor seat, not 'inverse arse shaped' like the Suzuki seat. Seat Concept seats behave like memory foam and after a few rides shape themselves to the riders arse - which I suspect is the magic.

I can't comment on the seats you saw at the show, though I can say I have had a Corbin seat on my last 5 bikes and I love them. On the V-Strom I have also tried out the stock seat, the OEM gel seat, the Alaskan sheepskin seat cover and a Can. Tire gel seat cover. Everything helped beyond what the stock seat offered, but with the Corbin, I can ride a full gas tank without needing to get off and multiple 1000km days back to back with no ill effects. The max I can do on any other seat I have tried is 2hrs and then I am done.

My Corbin is leather and I have now put about 100k on it. There is some mild fading just on the seams, but I don't mind one bit as this seat is excellent for riding twisty roads where I am constantly changing my body position - sliding from right to left. I also think the leather fading is from the Motoport Kevlar suit which is slightly abrasive. I fully expect that this seat will last me 200k or more of aggressive use.
