ADAR October 4th

Has anyone here tried this on a V-Strom? Link-->http://www.redbeards.ca/adar/

The ADAR or All Day Adventure Ride is probably gear more to true enduro bikes but the organizer, David Van, says that last year a guy did it on a Strom. There is a novice route that may be more suitable if you're running 90/10 tires instead of knobbies. I found this on ADVRider, here-->http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=293599

I am giving this some serious thought. I might be even more interested if a few fellow Strommers were to join me:bom_deal2: It would be fun for a bunch of V-stroms to show up at an event sponsored by a BMW dealer Who am I kidding, I'm going for it!!

ADAR October 4th

I have been reading about that ride as well. It sounds like it should be passable with the strom and reportedly has the bailouts and an easier route if needed.

I don't have a lot of offroad experience so if it's tough like an enduro event my goose is cooked.

Adar

I'm giving it some serious thought to the Oct 4 ADAD but my weekend plans are not yet final.
The novice route, combined with my Zumo to avoid the worst, should be an good ride.

Many years ago I rode a 250 enduro Kawasaki F11 and I don't have any real urge now to get down and dirty wallowing the mud. Been there done that.
I'm no longer keen or capable on muddy slippery trails or bottomless swampy water crossings and neither myself or the large Vstrom beast tolerate drops or tip-overs very well.

By email the ADAR organizers seem happy to have a Vee join in for the fun.

I'm leaving bright and early on Saturday morning, Registation and breaky @7am. I hope to be on the road by 4:45-5:00am. As for the return trip, fortune smiled upon me and my sister-in-law moved her son's birthday party up to the 5th, requiring me to be in Oshawa anyway. I'm just staying there for the night and heading home late Sunday.

For anyone how is considering this ride, the GPS files are available at http://www.redbeards.ca/adar/ The route looks good. Anyone who isn't into GPS (like myself) you can view the route using google earth. Can't wait till Saturday!!
