Where to get insurance in Alberta

Hi everyone, Lurked here for a little bit and then plunged in and bought a 2007 DL1000 which I will be picking up on Saturday from Alberta Suzuki in Edmonton. This is where it got ugly. I called my insurance company (the personal) to set up a policy and was told it was on there Blacklist and wouldn't touch it even though I have had a cbr600 (87) insured through them for 15 years along with house, quad and cars. I called a local company and they are looking at insuring through JEVCO but will double check with them to ensure that it isn't on their list. The quote was $600 with 500 deductable and fire/theft which I find quite agreeable. I'm 37 been riding and insured on bikes for 23 years, no tickets, no claims.
My question to all the Canadian riders is: Where and how much are you paying for your big Vees policy.

Thanks for the reply Novascotia. The girl on the phone refered it "upstairs" and the higher ups declared the list was correct so I don't think another agent there will be any different. I've had an 87 CBR600 insured through them for 15 years and that is another black list bike so maybe the list was adjusted in the last couple years. I'll definitely be writting a letter to find out why the Vee is so dangerous and pushing for a reclassification.
My local agent is looking into Jevco, which I'm not really keen on, but in 24 years piddlin about on two wheels I've never claimed anything(knocking soundly on the nearest wooden object).

Insurance

for a bike that costs under 9000 and not a crotch rocket its ridiculous that it is blacklisted. Also if they changed the listing I would have been told to go elsewhere. I hear that State farm if you bundle the insurance with your car ,bike ins is cheap.

BTW i was posted to cool pool from 84-90 , 42 radar sqn and then to base ops. (COC) combat operations center

I posted in yer other thread before I saw this one.
I went with Primmum. $1M Liability, collision, specified perils (fire&theft&etc), less than $500/yr, with $500 deductible. Classified as "commute to work".
Oh, mine is 2004, bought 2008, first bike, I'm older than you, got my licence 2008, and took beginner course.

Here in Calgary there have been ads from a company called Blue Circle claiming to offer bike insurance.

I have a DL650 so it may be comparing Apples to Oranges but when I was getting insurance a couple of years ago my agent got a reluctant quote from ING (my cage insurer) and they wanted something like $7-800. They classified it as a crotch rocket because they could not find it listed in their records.
I balked at that price so my agent looked around some more and got a quote for $425 through Jevco out of Montreal. They classified it as a sport touring.
