DL650 gas mileage

Put on 700 km. going Toronto to Windsor and back this weekend on a 2008 dl650 with approx 3400 km on the bike. Here are the riding conditions along with gas consumption.
Toronto to Windsor: 401 all the way. Stop and go traffic for 1.25 hrs and then clear sailing at 120-130 km/hr (according to the wee's speedo so probably less in reality) all the way to Windsor (1 stop to give my butt a rest). Then approx 10k of city driving before a fill-up. The results were:
19.3L/393.2km 4.9L/100km ~448km/tank
Windsor to Toronto: Some cruising around Essex county with a little city driving and then headed out on highway 3. Mostly 90km/hr except for slowdowns through small towns. Very little traffic and only 1 stop around Tillsonburg for gas. Didn't need it but I wanted to see what consistent lower speed riding would yield. The results for that leg were:
11.85L/307.9 Km. 3.85L/100km ~571.6km/tank (wow! someone check my arithmetic it's kind of late).
After that, I headed out on secondary highways to Brantford and then hopped onto the 403 and rode 120-130km/hr into Toronto. Still have 3 bars showing and haven't filled up yet so I don't know what kind of mileage I got on the last leg.

Sorry, have never even tried to learn the litres per 100km, results just dont mean anything to me.

However, I have had as high as 69mpg, and as low as 43mpg on my Wee.

On a longish trip, say to Nfld and back, I averaged 57mpg last year. A most recent 5200km trip west provided an average of 55mpg.

Cheers!

Should have posted in mpg also. Anyway, 4.9L/100 = 57.6mpg (Canadian) or 48mpg (U.S.). 3.85L/100 = 73.4mpg (Can. Gallon) or 61.1mpg (U.S.)

I've been logging the mileage since new (though only 3,075 km as of the last fill). The first tank was 5.47L/100km, and it has been improving since then. The last two tank-ups took me 732 km on 32.864 litres, or 4.49 L/100km (or 62.9 mpg imperial) on a mix of 120 km/h highway, and stop-and-go city commute driving. The mileage has still been improving with break-in, and it definitely helps if you drive with moderation (I have to work on that part).

Cheers,

The best:
78mpg or 3.6L/100km or 27.7km/ L on a test for best fuel consumption. On a slow highway , return trip trying to stay aound 70 to 80km/hr. Tall windshield, no saddle bags.

The worst:
47mpg playing sport bike on the twisty's around 120 to 140km/hr, loaded for touring, no saddle bags

Our gallons might be bigger, but we pay about 20% more for fuel (for the same units of measure) up here than you do down there.

Also, as best as I can figure, it seems that your gas gives a bit better mileage than our gas.
