New 2013 650 VStrom for $6999

While shopping across the street and with time to burn, I dropped in to Motor Sports World on Roydon Place in Nepean (near Hunt Club and Merivale). They have a new (previous year) 2013 650 VStrom for $6999.

That's what I paid in 2010 for my new (2009) DL650A in Montreal. Of course taxes are extra, and there will be some prep/delivery charges, methinks (I did not ask).

I'm not affiliated with the shop in any way, and am just giving a heads-up. Maybe other dealers have the same deal. Nor am I really keeping track of what they are selling for.

No, I'm not buying a new bike. I'm happy still with my 2009, even if it does need "the ashtray cleaned out", so to speak. The salesman seemed to understand.

I saw that bike while I was in Ottawa a few weeks back. I really liked it but I would have to wait until funds are available. The bike has never been started. My only concern would be the tires that are 2 years old.

Tires age more slowly when not in the sun.

The way some manufacturers work, not sure about Suzuki Canada, is that the dealer pays interest every month they have the bike until it sells, but after a certain time the dealer must also make payments to buy the bike. This is a great incentive to price the warehouse queens to get sold quickly. A lower offer can always be made as well. Or ask for a great deal on accessories...center stand, shop manual, heated grips, etc. the dealer doesn't want to keep making payments on that getting-even-older bike all winter.

"Older people who are reasonable, good-tempered, and gracious will bear aging well. Those who are mean-spirited and irritable will be unhappy at every period of their lives.

Perhaps in couple of months you will be able to get 2014 for that price in some places. 2 of my riding buddys got 2013 for this amount in December last year.

Garage
I considered that bike but the colour was a deal breaker. Wanted a grey one. Got a 2014 for a good price and I get treated very good at Asselstine's.

They didn't seem willing to move on the price either.
